As a writer of paranormal romances and urban fantasy, I'm always interested in real ghost stories. When I was researching a young adult ghost story romance, I discovered a restaurant not far from where I used to live where the story takes place (Merritt Island, Florida), which is inhabited by a flapper era ghost. She's not nice. :) Patrons have experienced choking! My son went with a group of AFROTC cadets to Gettysburg with their AF graduate assistants to see Gettysburg and learn about the battles during a leadership training exercise. He's learning about computer stuff all summer in NY. What I found fascinating was the ghost stories that prevail at Gettysburg.
One is about an alley where if you take a picture of yourself in the alley, the alley will be visible, but not the person. So he tested it out and sure enough, he wasn't in the picture. :) At Gettysburg College, the Pennsylvania Hall was turned into a field hospital during the Civil War and sentries are seen pacing across the cupola. Many sightings have been reported in the battlefields, but the most have been at a place called Devil's Den where many slain soldiers have been seen.
At Triangular Field, electronic and photographic equipment often fail to work. A door at the George Weikert House won't stay closed no matter what anybody does with it. At Baltimore Street where bodies were stacked up before they could be buried in the July heat, phantom smells have been reported. At the Jenny Wade house where she was killed while kneading
dough, baking bread can be smelled. I never think of smells when I think of ghosts, so I thought this was a fascinating aspect for turning into fictionalized versions.

And when he has more time to talk to me, I can't wait to hear more about the ghosts of Gettysburg. My sister and her husband had actually lived there while they were stationed at Fort Ritchie, but she never told me about all the neat stuff! :)
Okay, so I've got to get back to the real world where I'm teaching happy hookers, checking out a romance cover hunk (I got review of my website that said that the guy loved my paranormal books and he's a friend of the romance cover hunk, so I need to thank him), and post a new review Google alert just told me about for Heart of the Wolf.
So before I go, I wanted to ask, have you ever been anywhere that is supposed to have regular ghost visitations?

Hi Terry,
I was in a number of places in Scotland reputed to be haunted. I didn't see any ghosts however, everything feels kind of spooky there anyway so who knows, maybe there really were ghosts and I was just to thick to pick up on them. But that is one seriously spooky country, I loved it!! And of course the cemetaries in New Orleans. OOO The Tower of London!! Wicked scary!!
:)

LOL, Becky! I'd love to get over there some day. But I can just imagine how haunted some of those old buildings could be. :)
And New Orleans, yeah, now I've been there!
Thanks for dropping by and saying hi! :)
Hey Terry, good to get the chance to say hi!! Been job hunting and interviewing, blech!! You definitely need to get to Scotland!!! I highly recommend it. I've been twice and it's fabulous! The moment I got there, I felt this tremendous recognition and belonging! It's amazing! And I have great stories!! I went the second time alone, on a student loan that I had to pay back as a single mom and I don't regret one cent of that money!! I think you'd love it. The only down thing is when the old Scottish lady who made my dancing kilt came to stay with us here, she said she saw more kilts than at home. She was right but we DID take her to 2 highland games in 2 states so that was part of it. But you don't see a lot of kilts there. That bummed me out but everything else was so wonderful that I didn't feel like the trip could have been any better no matter what. :) See, now you HAVE to go :)

HE KNOWS A ROMANCE COVER HUNK! DO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT THERE ARE ACTUALLY MEN WHO LOOK LIKE THAT? THEY CAN'T BE REAL!!!!
LOL, if they are real I bet they live underground, like Mole People. Otherwise women everywhere would have their heads bursting into flames. The lawsuits would be insane.
Ugh, I don't go reputedly haunted places on purpose, because I'm a big chicken. Which is why I've had my own ghostly encounters, of course. Ghosts are to people who don't want to experience them as cats are to people who don't like cats. Velcro, baby.
Hey, Becky, in the same boat as you with the job hunting! Wishing you lots of luck with it! Had two realtors show the house last night. Which means cleaning and mowing again. argh!!!
I'd love to escape to Scotland!!!
Hey, Cheryl, I commented on the guy's website, but refrained from asking him to send me a picture of his friend--barely. LOL!!
LOL, Kendra, on both accounts--the romance hunks in hiding and the ghostly encounters. :) Love the velcro analogy!
Hey Terry,
Good luck and good wished to you too for the job hunting and house selling! Hate both!!! Ack!
